HGAC Educational Speakers Program

June 21, 2022 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Free

Explaining Away the Myths of Civil War Medicine: Living historian Rusty Dicks, “Civil War Surgeon,” brings to the G.A.R. Hall his massive collection of historical artifacts and reproduction items to introduce the audience to a better understanding of some of the medical practices used during the Civil War. Dicks has been “performing surgery” for more than 20 years. In past years he has portrayed a surgeon with the 83rd Pennsylvania Volunteers.

The HGAC Educational Speakers program has been under the supervision of HGAC member Regina Hollar since 2009. These free evening programs will be open to the public on the third Tuesday of the month in the historic G.A.R. Hall at 53 East Middle Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the presentations will start at 7:30 p.m. No reservations are needed and the hall is handicapped accessible.

The next program will be on August 16.
