HGAC Educational Speakers Program
April 19, 2022 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Free
Codie Eash, Director of Education and Museum Operations at Seminary Ridge Museum and Education Center in Gettysburg, will kick off the the 2022 Historic Gettysburg Educational Speakers Program series on April 19 with a lecture entitled: “It Is All My Fault” – Robert E. Lee’s Gettysburg Legacy.
Although he was only at Gettysburg for the better part of four days in July 1863, Robert E. Lee’s presence in Adams County has lingered in United States military history and memory. Gettysburg was the site of perhaps Lee’s most costly defeat, and yet few soldiers have been so celebrated at particular site as the Confederacy’s most influential general. Eash will offer an analysis of the monuments, speeches, soldiers’ recollections and the art, film and public interpretations that have influenced our collective thinking concerning Lee’s legacy at American’s most famous battlefield.
The HGAC Educational Speakers program has been under the supervision of HGAC member Regina Hollar since 2009. These free evening programs will be open to the public on the third Tuesday of the month in the historic G.A.R. Hall at 53 East Middle Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325. Doors open at 7pm. and the presentations will start at 7:30pm. No reservations are needed and the hall is handicapped accessible.
