“My goal is to provide excellent service and create customer satisfaction by working on every project with love, attention and care,” says Marann Jones, owner of MHJ Flower Shop in Gettysburg. “The greatest joy when the project is over, or the arrangement is picked up, is to hear the customer say, ‘this was exactly what I had in my head’ or ‘you have far exceeded my imagination.’”
Before opening her Carlisle Street shop in October 2024, Marann sold her floral arrangements and promoted her landscaping services at the Adams County Farmers Market. Although she has her own store now, she continues to sell at the market because of the great community she has found there. MHJ Flower Shop offers design services for all types of landscaping projects.
With more than 30 years of experience, Marann can transform any landscape dream into reality, using handmade drawings and CGI programs. Her shop also features a wide selection of flowers to satisfy all floral needs. Customers can find everything from bouquets and arrangements to potted plants, hanging baskets and single-stem flowers. For special events, Marann provides packages that include one-of-a-kind arrangements, ensuring that every occasion is memorable.
“When planning or creating both floral arrangements and landscape designs, the first thing is to listen to what the customer has in their imagination,” says Marann. “Then I work with them to bring it into reality.”
Marann offers design classes and floral demonstrations, allowing participants to create their own bouquets. She also hosts events like Poetry Saturdays, where attendees can share their love of literature and flowers.
While deeply dedicated to delivering beautiful florals and landscapes, Marann also aims to educate local communities. She creates content for her YouTube channel and blog while also offering teaching and speaking engagements. Topics include using native plants in landscaping, getting the most out of a greenhouse and gardening with limited space. These hands-on speaking engagements give participants a well-rounded learning experience.
Designing landscapes and creating beautiful flower arrangements are more than just a passionate hobby for Marann. Some of the profits of MHJ Flower Shop help fund projects for her hometown in Liberia, West Africa, such as helping to pay teachers and providing supplies to the locals. The services she provides help her continue her mission of supporting the community.
