20th Annual Gettysburg Brass Band Festival

2017 marks the 20th Anniversary of the Gettysburg Brass Band Festival (GBBF) with bands from six states performing in our historic town, Gettysburg from June 8th – 10th.
The 2017 brass festival begins Thursday evening, June 8th on the Main Stage at the Lutheran Seminary with the Adams County Community Band and The Gettysburg Big Band.
The Gettysburg Brass, Hanover Lancers Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps, Antebellum Marine Band and others perform Friday evening, June 9th at various locations around the town of Gettysburg.
A full afternoon and evening of music begins at noon, Saturday June 10th on the Gettysburg Tours Main Stage and Hill Unger Stage on the historic grounds of the Lutheran Theological Seminary on Seminary Ridge. The festival hosts several a North American Brass Band Association Champions (NABBA) including New Jersey’s Atlantic Brass Band, Chesapeake Brass Band (Delaware) and Spires Brass Band (Maryland). Also included in Saturday’s lineup, Rockville and Benfield Brass Bands from Maryland, the Brass of the Potomac from Virginia, the Syracuse University Brass Ensemble and the Dixieland Express from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The Gettysburg Brass Band Festival closes with the moving “Taps” Tribute as buglers bring honor from historic sites on the Gettysburg battlefield.
A popular part of the GBBF is the Instrument Petting Zoo where youngsters of all ages have the opportunity to try brass instruments. A Bugle School will also be held during the weekend along with the ever-popular Saturday Brass Picnic; delicious food and beer will be available onsite for purchase.
This free event is organized by volunteers in partnership with the Lutheran Seminary Music, Gettysburg! Concert Series, Destination Gettysburg and the Gettysburg Times.
