Memories of our Fathers: The Air War in Europe, 1942-1945 with Stephen Mock

The first airplane didn’t fly until 1903, but less than forty years later, technology had evolved and the airplane had become a primary weapon of war. Airplanes and their crews became one of the foremost reasons for Allied victory over Nazi Germany in World War II, but not without heavy losses. Prior to D-Day in June, 1944,  Air Force casualties exceeded 75% and civilian losses in lives and property were unimaginable. This presentation will focus on the personal stories of pilots, air crews, ground crews and civilians who lived and died during the greatest and most deadly war in the history of the world. Witness the history of air warfare in the Western Theater like never before.

This free public program will be held in the Battlefield Overlook Event Center. A free screening of the film “Twelve O’clock High” will take place after this program.
