Gettysburg National 19th Century Base Ball Festival
July 17 - July 18Free
The 11th Gettysburg 19th Century Base Ball Festival, July 17-18, features 24 teams from around the country playing the game with 1860s rules, equipment, and uniforms. There are also vendors, food trucks, fans dressed in period attire, and a great ambiance over five grass fields at the Schroeder Family Farm, a short distance from the Sachs Covered Bridge. Games start at 8:30 in the morning and run until about 5 in the afternoon on both days. Admission is free, but a donation to Gettysburg Little League programs is suggested. So bring a lawn chair and enjoy the fun. The rules are quirky, the uniforms glorious, and the photo opportunities outstanding.
