27th Annual History Meets the Arts
Lord Nelson’s Gallery presents the 27th annual History Meets the Arts Show & Sale on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event will take place at the Gettysburg Fire Company Community Room in Adams County, Pennsylvania. Admission is free both days.
This two-day event brings together 18 artists and authors who specialize in 18th-century Colonial American history, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience history through fine art and craftsmanship. Nine painters known for their historically accurate depictions of the French and Indian War and Revolutionary War will be in attendance, including award-winning Pennsylvania artists Robert Griffing, John Buxton, Jason Tako, Bryant White, and Pamela Patrick White, as well as David Wright of Tennessee and others from across the country.
In addition to painters, the show will feature skilled artisans who create period accoutrements reflective of early American life. Attendees can meet sculptor Wayne Hyde; knife maker Steve Auvenshine, whose work has appeared in major motion pictures; powder horn maker Tim Sanner; hand-painted floorcloth artist Jennifer McKay-Treichel; and folk artists Wayne and William Fluke, among others. Their handcrafted items, including scrimshawed powder horns, hand-forged knives, carved walking sticks, and canvas floor cloths, demonstrate traditional techniques and historical authenticity.
Two authors will also be present, including New York Times bestselling author Jeff Shaara, offering visitors the chance to engage with creators who bring early American history to life through both visual art and literature.
