Artifact of the Month

A small chunk of the famous “Mount Joy Meteorite” discovered near Two Taverns by a local farmer in 1887 is pictured. At that time, it was the largest meteorite found east of the Mississippi River. The largest section of this rare artifact—undoubtedly billions of years old, is on display at a natural history museum in Vienna, Austria.
