Thousands of Union troops encamped in Emmitsburg on the Sisters’ property before the Battle of Gettysburg. After they left for the Battle, the Sisters could hear the sounds of fighting, even though they were 10-12 miles away. After the battle was over, the Sisters answered the call for help and traveled to Gettysburg, where they would remain for many weeks. Discover all that the Sisters experienced around the time of the Battle of Gettysburg, and how they cared for the wounded on both sides.
The tour takes place on Saturdays, June 7 through August 29, at 11:30am and 1:30pm. This guided walking tour is primarily outdoors, and lasts 45-60 minutes.
